Description (Timeline...)

Streaming media allows a person to put sound and video in real-time onto a web site. Programs such as SHOUTcast and Flash are good to use for streaming either audio or video. There are plenty of tools available on the Internet to stream media, and many companies look for people who can stream media effectively. It is a growing way to spread information through the internet. Bands are using it to preview new songs to the public without people being able to keep the music on their computers. Many big television broadcasts can also be viewed online now because of streaming media. The World Series for one example could have been watched from the Major League Baseball web site for a small fee. The Northeastern Library also has certain programs that stream off of the library's web site (http://lib.neu.edu).
