Undergraduate Advising
The faculty and administration of the College of Computer and Information Science pride themselves on maintaining a supportive environment for all of our students. CCIS offers the feeling of community of a small college, combined with the broad set of opportunities and choices of a large urban university.
Undergraduate advising is an essential element of the supportive environment for students. At CCIS, students have four levels of advising available to them:
- Faculty advisors are available every day that classes are in session. Students can talk with the advisor who is currently holding advising hours or wait until a professor of their choice has his or her advising hours.
- The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, Prof. Richard Rasala, holds frequent office hours, makes special appointments, and does extensive consulting with students by e-mail: rasala@ccs.neu.edu. Prof. Rasala can also answer questions from prospective students.
- Two full-time staff members, Mr. Mark Erickson and Ms. Anne Nowill, serve as both half-time academic advisors and half-time cooperative education coordinators.
- A full-time Director of Student and Administrative Services, Ms. Doreen Hodgkin, is always available to help students with both administrative and academic issues.
